Perkumpulan Hukum dan Masyarakat (HuMa)
HuMa is an NGO working on law reform in the natural resources sector. HuMa’s work with SETAPAK falls under the following land and forest governance themes;
HuMa’s work is centered on the recognition of local communities’ rights to natural resources. HuMa has conducted studies identifying potential community management areas in North and East Kalimantan. HuMa is supplying para-legal training to support communities to have their rights recognized in East, North and West Kalimantan, and Central Sulawesi. Together with PiLNet, HuMa supports public lawyers in mentoring in community legal and natural resource management. The organization is both increasing knowledge of community rights and supporting communities in accessing and defending those rights.
Access to information
HuMa conducts a range of studies on Indigenous land tenure rights and community welfare related to land use. They are also facilitating a database portal about forest knowledge, community legal support and natural resource conflict resolution in Indonesia. HuMa is supporting a national study by the Human Rights Commission to develop a database of human rights violations in the natural resources sector.
